Jean recently relocated from Manhattan to Darien, CT with her 15‑month‑old toddler. She loves to live life to the fullest and tries to take full advantage of Connecticut‑living ‑ from coastal beach walks to art museums to wineries to delicious CT‑style pizza, she’s always trying to recreate city‑living in the beautiful 'burbs.
What do you love about where you live now?
Darien is the best of so many worlds - we were immediately drawn to this town because of its family-friendly vibes, quaint main street, incredible beaches, great public schools, and close proximity to both NYC and other neighboring towns in Fairfield County with lots to offer!
What are your go-to spots?
Ten Twenty Post
Playground at Weed Beach
Darien Nature Center
Cherry Lawn Park
Stamford Nature Center
Museum of Contemporary Art in Westport
Hammonasset Beach State Park
What's the best kept secret in your area?
We have only been here for 3 months so I am sure there is still so much for us to discover - but the sunset at Pear Tree Beach (and also views of the Manhattan skyline on a very clear day) are pretty spectacular.
How would you describe the vibe as a local?
Friendly, family-oriented, and incredibly welcoming.
What advice would you give someone moving to the area?
If you are coming from the city and nervous about Darien feeling too "small" - don't forget that there are PLENTY of neighboring towns with great restaurants, museums, nature trails, beaches and culture to explore!
